Job Purpose:

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to support the friendly fundraising team of two, to research opportunities to find and secure new revenue streams.  The role will involve using the internet, email, Excel and telephone.  This is a supporting role and would suit someone who is happy to work independently.  

Project Clothes bins:

We work in partnership with a company called Intersecond where we run a door to door clothes recycling scheme which brings in £3,000 a month over 11 months. As well as this Intersecond run a scheme called i-collect where members of the public can book a collection for their donated clothes. Intersecond also operate a clothes recycling bin scheme (the type you see in car parks and other public places) and we are keen to extend our partnership with Intersecond to place HEART UK clothes bins in public venues/places.

The role will be to research relevant sites, find out the name of the person in charge, list the contact details and contact them (phone or email) to determine any opportunities to get HEART UK clothes bins placed.  You will be provided with a list of university sites where we think there is the most potential, but we are happy for you to use your own ideas and initiative and contact public car parks, leisure centres, large companies etc from your own research.

HEART UK is passionate about preventing premature deaths caused by high cholesterol. We're committed to raising awareness about the risks of high cholesterol, lobbying for better detection of those at risk and supporting health professional training. 

Essential criteria

  • Good communicator with a good command of English – spoken and written ,
  • Good IT skills
  • Sense of humour
  • Willing attitude to muck in!
  • Previous experience within an office environment
  • Confident with using a computer, phone and Internet
  • Team player with ability to work unsupervised
