“I am delighted to support HEART UK and to help educate people about the dangers of not knowing or treating high cholesterol. Whether it is campaigning for better access to vital medication, advising health professionals on the latest developments or supporting patients uncertain of their options, HEART UK does a great job in raising awareness and plays an invaluable role supporting heart health. I’m also really impressed by the thousands of individuals who have taken up the Great Cholesterol Challenge to fundraise for HEART UK – good luck to them all!”

“I am pleased to support HEART UK’s National Cholesterol Month this October. HEART UK work tirelessly towards preventing premature deaths caused by high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease. Like HEART UK I would like the majority of UK adults to know their cholesterol levels, understand the impact and take any necessary action. Best of luck to those taking part in the Great Cholesterol Challenge to promote an active lifestyle and help raise funds for a fantastic organisation!”

Get involved with the Great Cholesterol Challenge – treat your heart and raise funds!

To celebrate National Cholesterol Month, why not get involved with our Great Cholesterol Challenge?  This simply means ‘moving more and eating better’ and having fun doing one of our fantastic ‘virtual challenges!'  The challenges are all designed to help improve heart health and raise funds to enable us to continue our vital life-saving work.

Being active has so many wonderful benefits.  Firstly, it increases good cholesterol levels (HDL), reduces blood pressure, keeps your weight in check and helps reduce your overall risk of heart disease. Regular exercise also makes you feel good!  Combine this with a healthy diet and you are half way to becoming a new healthier you!  So whether it’s swimming, running, climbing, walking or rowing – please get involved  with one of our fun 'virtual challenges' and help us reach our target of raising £50,000 this October.

See how Places for People Leisure got involved last year - Blackwater and West Bromwich.

“We had such an amazing time when we got involved with National Cholesterol Month!  I can’t wait to do it all again!  We did a virtual ‘London to Paris’ bike ride with loads of us getting involved.  It was really good fun and special to think we raised £330 for such a great cause’.
