“I am more mindful of the possibility of heart disease because of my cholesterol. Thanks to advice from HEART UK, I know what to look out for on food labels, and how to restrict my diet, whilst still enjoying food.”

Three years ago Tracy started feeling unwell and, as she works in the health sector, made the decision to have her blood tested. When the results came back, the GP advised she had high cholesterol.

“It felt strange to find this out, as I had always eaten healthily and taken exercise. Fortunately, this has meant I haven’t had to change my lifestyle too much, although I now can’t have grapefruit because of my meds, which I’m quite upset about!”

Sadly, Tracy is unable to find out if her cholesterol is FH related as both her parents have passed away. But her GP prescribed her Simvastatin, and HEART UK have provided the dietary advice Tracy needs to maintain normal cholesterol levels.
