Reducing cholesterol

Making changes to the food you eat and being more active can help lower your cholesterol to normal levels.

In some cases, particularly if you are older or at greater risk, you may also need to take a cholesterol-lowering medicine like a statin. Statins are very effective, safe and well tolerated and have been shown to reduce heart attacks.

Parliament Cholesterol
Testing Event 2016

HEART UK held a cholesterol testing event in Parliament and over 100 MPs and Lords attending to learn more about the importance of cholesterol and to get tested themselves. It is important that we talk to politicians in Westminster to make sure that cholesterol is still considered essential when discussing and making decisions about heart health.
