Questions to ask

If you are considering taking part in a clinical trial be sure to ask lots of questions and read all the information you are given.  

Questions to ask

  • Why is the study taking place and how will it help people? 
  • What treatment will I get if I don’t take part in the trial? 
  • How long is the trial expected to last?
  • How long will I have to take part? 
  • When and how will I find out the results of the trial? 
  • What if the trial treatment does not suit me, can I leave the trial before it ends? 
  • How much of my time will be needed, will I need to take time off work? 
  • What kind of tests will I have and where will I need to go for them? 
  • Is there an allowance to cover any of the travel cost that I have?
  • Will I be paid for any time I have to have off work?    
  • Will I have to keep records or fill in questionnaires? 
  • What possible side effects might I experience? 
  • Who can I get in touch with if I have a problem?
