Virgin Money London Marathon 2018
27 amazing runners pounded the streets of London on Marathon day (April 22) and we thank every one of them for their dedication and commitment to raise funds for HEART UK. It was tough going as the temperature soared into the mid 20's but they all did really well.
It is still too early to determine how much we have raised from this Marathon but we hope it will be over £60,000. We will update the website when we have the final figure.
The ballot for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2019 is now closed. Anyone who would like one of our charity places should apply HERE or email fundraising to find out more. Hear what some of our runners said of their Marathon experience:
“Running the marathon was by far the most awesome and challenging experience of my life. Crossing that finishing line made everything leading up to it, all the training, the 26 miles in that heat, everything was worth it and I cannot thank Heart UK enough for giving me a place on their team. I’ll never forget it.” Jenni Trimlett
"After two friends passing away from heart attacks last year, there was only ever one charity choice for me to run for, and what a great choice i made. From start to finish there was support and help. I'm very proud to have raised £5,500 for such a great charity and great people." David Prendergast
“It was a tough day, but a good one I'll never forget. Having ran for several charities over the years, I will say HEART UK were excellent and do a great job for runners. For me, the best I've experienced” Chris Hobson
"Thank you HEART UK for giving me the opportunity to run the VLM for your great charity! It was the most challenging but most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life!." Carlo Nazareno

The money raised from the Marathon will help to:
• Run our Helpline where our specialist nurses and dieticians help people look after themselves and get the care and support they need
• Campaign and lobby the government to help make sure people get the best levels of care
• Educate and inform about the condition Familial hypercholesterolaemia (often shortened to FH) an inherited condition which leads to exceptionally high cholesterol levels
• Provide expert information and advice to help people stay healthy and be active
