Hear what some of our runners said of their Marathon experience:
"It was a privilege to run for HEART UK and knowing that I was running, as part of a team, generating so much money for the Charity was what really drove me. The day was electric from start to finish and the reception I got when I arrived at Browns (the after event reception) made me feel like a rock star! The massage was really great too. I'm so pleased to have been part of such a great day for HEART UK." - Rob Keeble.
"I just wanted to say a massive thank you to HEART UK and everyone there for giving me a place in the Marathon and for the support I received. Looks like I will have raised just over £2,000 which is great! My race went pretty well, managed to keep up with the 8-minute mile pacer for the majority of the race but couldn't quite keep it going. Finished with a PB though in 3hrs 44mins and 7 seconds!! I'll take that!" - Antony Eden
"I had an absolutely amazing day running the Marathon for HEART UK, the personal wholehearted support throughout the build up and on the day, made a tough time actually enjoyable." - Sanjay Sharma
"Thank you so much for all your support during the build up to the Marathon and thanks for organising such a great end to the day at Browns. It was wonderful to be able to come and sit down and eat some good food. The massage was a bonus. It must have worked as my legs feel remarkably good considering!." - Rebecca Evans.
And it was love all round when HEART UK runner Matt Dechamps proposed to his girlfriend Julie Lloyd-Gane at the Marathon finish line! Matt proposed to Julie with a £14 ring from Claire’s Accessories for fear of losing the real thing along the way. Congratulations to Matt and Julie! See more
The money raised from the Marathon will help to:
• Run our Helpline where our specialist nurses and dieticians help people look after themselves and get the care and support they need
• Campaign and lobby the government to help make sure people get the best levels of care
• Educate and inform about the condition Familial hypercholesterolaemia (often shortened to FH) an inherited condition which leads to exceptionally high cholesterol levels
• Provide expert information and advice to help people stay healthy and be active
